The Environmental Industry Associations (EIA) and Penton Waste360 have agreed in principle to a five-year alliance extending the existing relationship to a broader array of products and services for the waste and recycling industry.

The new strategic partnership expands the existing relationship, centered around Penton’s WasteExpo, to include new areas such as organics recycling and conversion technologies, the companies said in a news release.

Under terms of the new agreement, Washington-based EIA and New York-based Penton’s Waste360 will work together to offer the waste and recycling industry a superior tradeshow and education program and work collaboratively to provide the industry new and expanded marketing and education offerings, while increasing association membership and member benefits.

EIA will receive a portion of the proceeds both from exhibitors at WasteExpo who are EIA members and from other marketing through Waste360. EIA and Penton also will work together to launch new products and provide services that benefit EIA’s members and Penton’s customers.

“As the waste and recycling industry and the media world are evolving, so is the relationship between EIA and Penton,” said Sharon Kneiss, EIA president and CEO. “As our industry increasingly relies on new technologies and innovation, this partnership will help maintain EIA, WasteExpo and Waste360 as vital, relevant sources of information for industry leaders. Our relationship with Penton creates important synergies benefiting EIA’s members, WasteExpo exhibitors and attendees and the entire waste and recycling industry.”

“We are very pleased to significantly expand our relationship with EIA,” said Warren  Bimblick, Penton’s senior vice president, strategy and business development. “The new relationship reinforces our commitment to this industry and extends many new benefits to our subscribers and attendees, including enhanced education and access to new types of content, plus gives marketers added reason to use our marketing services while providing added incentives of membership with EIA.”
