Florida Recycling Ramps Up
In 2015, Florida’s overall recycling rate was 54 percent, according to a report released Monday by the state’s Department of Environmental Protection.
Earlier this month, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection revealed that Pinellas County, Fla., had a recycling rate of 89 percent for 2015, which is the highest rate for the State of Florida. Now, the department has released a new report that shows that the state’s overall recycling rate for 2015 was 54 percent.
These increased recycling efforts are partially due to the state’s new goal of trying to reach a 75 percent recycling rate by 2020.

In 2015, Florida’s overall recycling rate was 54 percent, according to a report released Monday by the state’s Department of Environmental Protection.
That total figure, however, includes more than just traditional recycling of items, such as glass and paper. It also includes the production of energy generated from garbage.
