Washington, D.C. -- The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has announced that motor carriers who have a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) number and a "biennial package" for updating their Motor Carrier Identification Report form (MCS-150) now can update it electronically. The Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act of 1999 requires the information be updated every two years.

Motor carriers that submit similar information to the appropriate state commercial motor vehicle (CMV) registration office as part of the annual vehicle registration requirement under Performance and Registration Information Systems Management (PRISM) do not have to refile the same information with the FMCSA.

To register electronically, visit www.safersys.org. There is no charge to file electronically.
