Freightliner to Cut More Jobs, Close Plants

Portland, Ore. -- Freightliner Corp. has announced that it will cut another 2,700 jobs, bringing the total since 1999 to 11,700 job cuts, and close three plants in an effort to restructure the company and make subsidiary DaimlerChrysler profitable. Plants will close in Portland, Ore.; Woodstock, Ontario, Canada; and Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.
