Mira Engler, associate professor of landscape architecture at Iowa State University, has written “Designing America's Waste Landscapes.” In the more than 200-page book, Engler examines landfills, recycling and waste transfer centers, and sewage treatment plants from both a cultural perspective and a practical, designing perspective.
