During 2001, Heil will operate 12 facilities and employ more than 1,200 people. These facilities handle tasks such as corporate management, manufacturing, parts, distribution and specialized waste management products. Here's a brief look at each of these facilities.

  • Chattanooga, Tenn. The company's corporate headquarters employs 63 administrative and sales people.

  • Fort Payne, Ala. Heil's largest manufacturing plant is located here. The manufacturing facility employs 434 people, who build Half/Pack front loaders; Formula 4000, Formula 5000 and Big Bite rear loaders; R-2000 recycle bodies; DPF manual side loaders; and Retriever Satellite side loaders. In addition, a research and development group of 15 people maintains a laboratory in Fort Payne. A parts distribution center, also located here, employs 20 people. Finally, Fort Payne is home to the company's Customer Education Center.

  • Phoenix. The Phoenix manufacturing plant employs 175 people and makes a host of automated Heil products, including Rapid Rail automated side loaders; STARR system equipment; Formula 7000 Square body and DPF Formula 7000 automated side loaders; Formula 7000 split body co-collection automated side loaders; and DPF Half/Pack front loaders customized for markets in the western United States.

Heil Arizona also is based in Phoenix. This branch facility employs 20 people and serves as a company distributor for refuse and dump bodies. This location contains a full-service repair facility for that equipment. Heil Phoenix also works on long-range product development and prototype designs.

  • Tishomingo, Miss. The Tishomingo plant manufactures a full line of Heil dump bodies, as well as Retriever Satellite side loader refuse collection bodies. The plant employs approximate 152 people.

  • Dunfermline, Scotland. Scotland hosts Heil's European operations. The Dunfermline plant, one of the first plants Heil built as it decentralized operations, makes front loaders, rear loaders and side loaders that are purchased throughout Europe. Approximately 180 employees work at the Scotland plant.

  • Atlanta. The Heil South branch facility employs 20 people and, as a company distributor, distributes Heil refuse and dump bodies. Operations at this site include mounting both refuse and dump bodies, and manufacturing Olympian aluminum dump bodies.

  • Milwaukee. Heil's original headquarters city currently provides offices for Heil Engineered Systems, a five-person engineering office that designs and develops waste-to-energy projects and composting facilities.

  • Greenville, S.C. Bayne Machine works, the newest member of the Heil fold, maintains a manufacturing plant and sales offices here. With 55 employees, Bayne manufactures hydraulic lift systems for the waste industry.

  • South Carolina and Arizona. Last but not least, Parts Inc., Heil's aftermarket parts distribution arm, employs 18 people in offices located throughout South Carolina and Arizona.
