The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), Washington, has approved a new railroad transportation policy that promotes federal legislation and other efforts encouraging railroads to significantly increase their investment in rail cars needed to transport scrap materials. The new policy also aims for increased availability of service and rail cars to scrap processors and their customers, as well as more funding for new track and infrastructure.

“ISRI will work with other rail shipping interests to promote positive, competitive change in the nation’s rail transportation system,” said Robin Weiner, president of ISRI, in a press release.
