Leonard Joins Casella Waste Systems, O'Sullivan Named VP of American Ref-Fuel

Casella Waste Systems Inc., Rutland, Vt., has re-elected John W. Casella as chairman of the board of directors and has named James W. Bohlig president and Richard A. Norris chief financial officer.
American Ref-Fuel Co., Houston, has named John O'Sullivan executive vice president of operations and Curt Hurst engineering vice president of the company's Newark, N.J., engineering office. The company also has named Lynn Johnston vice president of the Southern region and TransRiver Marketing, and Michael de Castro vice president of the Northern region.

In Memoriam: Ed Ensor, Waste Management Inc., Houston, and long-time member of the National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA), Washington, D.C., has died. Ensor was a founding member of the Maryland-Delaware Solid Waste Association (MDSWA). He lived with his wife, Barbara, in Ashton, Md.
Charles Leonard has joined Casella Waste Systems, Rutland, Vt., as the company's senior vice president of solid waste operations.
A 1978 graduate of Memphis Tennessee State University, Leonard has more than 20 years of waste industry experience. He began his career with Browning-Ferris Industries' (BFI) west coast operations and spent 10 years with Laidlaw, Burlington, Ontario, Canada. Most recently he was responsible for managing more than $500 million in integrated solid waste revenues as senior vice president of Laidlaw's U.S. operations.
Leonard left the industry when Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Allied Waste Industries acquired Laidlaw, but he joined Allied last winter and was hired by Casella in July 2001.
