Marion County Looks to Eliminate Litter with New Ordinance

As an attempt to prevent the continuation of littering problems, this Florida county has updated their legislation.

The new rules increase fines associated with littering and has been enacted as of July 22nd, 2022. Marion County's new ordinances broadened what is considered litter to include nonreusable masks, cigarette butts, syringes, and drug paraphernalia. Those involved with creating the updated ordinances believe this is only one piece of the puzzle to solving the litter problem.
