OPERATIONS MANAGER
SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT
PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION

Responsible for the operational performance of the Solid Waste Department and compliance with financial objectives and all applicable Local, State and Federal environmental laws and regulations; supervises Refuse Collections Foreman, Lead Equipment Operator, Equipment Operator, Recycler/Baler, Truck Driver and the Watchmen at the Solid Waste Department; coordinates daily fill sequencing, short and long term operational planning, landfill operations, site compliance, aeration/moisture control and processing and management of recyclable commodities; works with Superintendent in the assignment of duties; assists customers.

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Technology/Engineering plus a minimum of three years relevant work experience; proficient in project management; Landfill Gas Management experience; knowledge of transfer station and landfill operations, financial management/budget development; Maintenance of NH DES Level IV Landfill Operators License; knowledge of residential/commercial refuse collection and solid waste equipment; Blood Borne Pathogen and Safety Training; staff development; solid waste regulatory requirements; must be trained and proficient in the use of personal computers, hardware/software, large scales, survey equipment and monitors; must possess a valid driver’s license.

Bachelor’s degree plus two years minimum relevant work experience or Associate’s degree in Environmental Technology/Engineering or relevant field plus a minimum of four years relevant work experience will be accepted in lieu of Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Technology/Engineering.

Salary $39,120. - $56,992.
