Native American Tribes Announce Solid Waste Conference

Akwesasne, N.Y. — The Tribal Association on Solid Waste & Emergency Responses (TASWER) has announced its third annual conference October 2-4, 2001. The conference will discuss how to deal with Native American tribes and solid waste management practices. Because tribes are defined as municipalities but also are considered sovereign nations, they are not required to follow state laws. For more information, go to
