Silver Spring, Md. – The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has hired two people to fill vacant positions. April Owens has joined the Meetings and Expositions department as manager of exposition sales. She most recently was employed with Bristol-Meyers Squibb as a pharmaceutical sales manager and has more than 10 years of corporate marketing and exhibition management experience. Owens will oversee and coordinate exhibit booth sales and associated sponsorships at SWANA events.

Julie Ransom also has joined SWANA as marketing manager. She was most recently the executive director for the Pittsburgh Singles Volunteer Network and has worked for several trade associations. In her new position, Ransom will manage marketing and promotion of SWANA’s technical programs and events, membership programs and internal publications.

“I am pleased to welcome both Julie and April to the SWANA team,” said SWANA CEO and Executive Director John H. Skinner, Ph.D. “We look forward to working with both of them to further SWANA’s goals in the next year and beyond.”
