New York-based Primedia and its subsidiary Intertec Publishing, Overland Park, Kan., is taking an equity position in TransComp Systems, Orange, Calif. and its division, Waste Click.com. Primedia is the owner of Waste Age magazine and the WasteExpo trade show.

In return for the equity position, Primedia is providing Waste Click.com a Waste Age content license, as well as magazine advertising and online promotional opportunities. WasteClick also will receive WasteExpo trade show sponsorships and cash.

"By combining the industry's leading publication, Waste Age, and the premier Internet portal, WasteClick, we offer the waste industry added value that not only addresses a company's business-to-business print communications but also integrates and enhances its online ability to communicate its corporate message," says TransComp President Patrick Sweeney.

"Our businesses complement each other," Primedia Spokeswoman Eileen Murphy adds, noting that both Waste Age and TransComp are resources for industry professionals seeking business trends, new product information and news.

While WasteClick.com will incorporate Waste Age's content into its website, the magazine's own website, Wasteage.com will continue online, says Gregg Herring, Intertec group publisher.

TransComp, a waste industry software developer specializing in financial and operations management applications, unveiled WasteClick on Jan. 1, 2000.

Intertec Publishing is one of the world's largest technical and trade publishing companies with 100 publications, 450 books and directories, and more than 30 trade shows. Waste Age, based in Atlanta, was purchased by Intertec in January 1999 from the Washington, D.C.-based Environmental Industry Associations.
