Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.-based Republic Services Inc. has named Mike Cordesman chief operating officer (COO). Cordesman also is vice president of the company's Eastern region.

The National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR), Charlotte, N.C., has announced that Frank Mechura, executive vice president of Crown, Cork & Seal Co. Inc., Philadelphia, will serve as chairman of the board of directors for 2002. Mike Dewsbury, vice president of Wellman Inc., Charlotte, will serve as vice chairman, Dominique Potelle will service as treasurer, and Ralph Simmons will serve as secretary and general counsel.
