An extensive trash pickup changeover impacting thousands of households in north Santa Rosa County has raised concerns from residents about what some said was an unexpected switch to Emerald Coast Utilities Authority.

But plans to franchise solid waste pickup in north Santa Rosa are nothing new, according to the county.

Residents are still experiencing some bumps during the transition as ECUA works to service almost 19,000 new customers in an unfamiliar service area, with some residents complaining about missed pickups, trash can delivery delays or just the county's decision to make the change at all.
