Schwarzenegger Appoints Two to CIWMB

Sacramento, Calif. – Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed two new members -- Rosario Marin and Rosalie Mulé -- to the California Integrated Waste Management Board, bringing the state solid waste regulatory agency up to full voting capacity.

The board is charged with dealing with the waste management issues affecting 76 million tons of solid waste generated in California annually, such as reviewing solid waste operations permits, evaluating diversion programs, and working with state and local governments to reduce, recycle, and reuse surplus materials and buy recycled-content products.

Marin, who was the nation’s treasurer under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2003, was sworn into office on April 27, 2004. Mulé has been director of municipal development for Waste Management of the Inland Empire since 2003 and is expected to be sworn in by mid-May. The positions require Senate confirmation and annual compensation is $117,818.
