Agru America
Agru America Inc., Kingwood, Texas, manufactures high-density polyethylene (HDPE) Microspike liners using a process that creates a rough surface out of the actual liner material. The resulting profile has a regular series of small spikes integrated with the base liner material for landfill lining and capping. The Microspike, also available in low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), has smooth edges to enable wedge welds to be made between adjacent sheets, according to the company. Liners are produced with no need for co-extrusion or spray-on processes, the company says. Features include standard 29-inch-diameter rolls with two slings each, special roll lengths available upon request, and a 40-foot standard container and 48-foot flatbed each with a 12-roll capacity.

CETCO
Geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) from CETCO, Arlington Heights, Ill., include Bentomat models ST, SDN, CL, CLT and DN; and Claymax models 600CL and 200R for landfill applications. GCLs consist of a layer of sodium bentonite between two geotextiles. Some models are woven, some are non-woven, some have a laminated textured HDPE geomembrane and some have a polyethylene membrane, the company says. Products range from 14.5 feet by 150 feet to 15 feet by 150 feet and cover approximately 2,250 square feet, according to the company.

Colbond Geosynthetics
Enka, N.C.-based Colbond Geosynthetics manufactures the Enkamat turf reinforcement mat for erosion control. The Enkamat is a 3-D matrix joined at the mat's intersections, 95 percent of which is open space to supplement natural erosion control, the company says. As roots grow, they become entwined within the Enkamat to make a stable cover, according to the company. The root-reinforcing system anchors vegetation and protects against hydraulic lift and shear forces created by high-volume discharges. Enkamat is available in several weights, thicknesses and widths.

GSE Lining Technology
GSE Lining Technology Inc., Houston, offers geomembranes, geotextiles, geonet and geocomposite products for landfill control. GSE Conductive is a spark-testable polyethylene geomembrane made from a thin layer of electrically conductive carbon black that is installed on the conductive side of the deployed sheet. GSE White is a co-extruded, light-reflective HDPE geomembrane with an ultraviolet (UV)-stabilized, white upper surface. GSE non-woven geotextiles, available in six models, are made from polypropylene, staple fiber and non-woven needle-punched geotextiles. GSE Hypernet, CP and HF are geosynthetic drainage materials made from two bonded, overlapping HDPE strands, or geonets. The company also manufactures GSE Fabrinet and HF, and Fabricap geonet and geocomposite products; and GSE HD, Conductive White, UltraFlex, UltraFlex White, HyperFlex, HD Textured, UltraFlex Textured, UltraFlex White Textured and ProFlex geomembranes.

Poly-Flex
Poly-Flex Inc., Grand Prairie, Texas, offers Textured SE geomembranes for steeper slopes. SE geomembranes have 7-inch smooth edges on both sides of the sheet to provide the same seaming parameters as a smooth sheet and to minimize texturing to optimize welding, according to the company. No additional personnel are needed to clean dirt and moisture from the seaming surface, the company says.

SI Geosolutions
SI Geosolutions, Chattanooga, Tenn., offers the Landlock system of erosion control products, which includes degradable erosion control blankets (ECBs), turf reinforcement mats (TRMs) and Pyramat TRMs. ECBs and TRMs are designed to promote vegetation, provide erosion protection and improve water quality on slopes and in channels. ECBs are made from straw and coconut (coir) fibers mechanically stitch-bonded to netting. Pyramat TRMs are made from polypropylene and provide permanent erosion control, according to the company. SI Geosolutions also manufactures Geotex non-wovens and Geotex tubes for waste containment applications. Geotex heavyweight non-wovens protect geomembranes by providing resistance against impact, abrasion and puncture, while collecting and laterally transmitting liquids and gases, the company says. Geotex tubes help with the removal, containment and dewatering of sediment and dredged material.

Westinghouse Savannah River
Westinghouse Savannah River Co., Aiken, S.C., offers phytoimmobilization and chemically reactive barrier mats for subsurface contaminants and waste. The phytoimmobilization process remediates shallow soil and groundwater by combining phytoextraction with contaminant stabilization to reduce waste volume, the company says. The multi-layer composite barrier is designed to prevent radioactive and hazardous wastes from entering the environment. The mat is made from multiple water-permeable, active layers containing at least one reactive agent to stabilize specific contaminants within hazardous waste. Several reactive agents can be mixed into one active layer or may be separated into different active layers, according to the company.
