Terrill Haigler, Ya Fav Trashman, Named 2021 Most Valuable Philadelphian

North Philly native, Terrill Haigler, who is known throughout Philadelphia as Ya Fav Trashman, has been named the 2021 most valuable Philadelphian for his advocacy for essential workers and clean streets. 

Haigler was a dancer, but with the responsibility of a child to support he needed to find different work. In December of 2019, Haigler began his job as sanitation worker. When COVID lockdowns led to trash pile ups and the city struggled to get trash collectors PPE he became an advocate for sanitation workers. 

Haigler and a friend created the “Ya Fav Trashman” persona and within six weeks, he raised nearly $10,000 for new PPE. He has more than 25,000 followers on his Instagram account the @_yafavtrashman account, providing a behind-the-scenes look at life as a sanitation worker. 

Now he is working full time as Ya Fav Trashman to promote neighborhood cleanups, which he organizes with local elected officials. He also partners with nonprofits to help promote food drives and to raise awareness of the importance of voting in elections.
