A SEPTEMBER BEACH CLEANUP in the Santa Cruz, Calif., area netted 600 pounds of trash — and a few stares. Members of the Bay Area Naturists club were part of a group that canvassed Bonny Doon Beach, a popular clothing-optional area, in conjunction with the 20th annual California Coastal Cleanup Day. “The real purpose is not the nakedness, but clearing up the trash,” says Jurek Zarzycki, a club member. His group has been cleaning up the beach in the buff for 17 years. It seems the clothing minimalists also want minimal trash on their beaches of choice.
