Michelle Tsalaky has been named executive director of the Washington Refuse and Recycling Association (WRRA), Seattle. Since 1990, Tsalaky has been working for the Thurston County, Wash. Public Works Department. She also designed, implemented and managed the county's recycling program, and oversaw operation of the compost center and a household hazardous waste program.

Tsalaky began her solid waste career 11 years ago as head of Centralia, Wash.'s landfill environmental monitoring system. She received a degree in biology from Seattle Pacific University and a graduate degree in microbiology from the University of Washington, Seattle.
