UPDATE:Intertec Launches C&D Magazine

CHICAGO - Reflecting a burgeoning increase in the recycling of construction-related material, World Wastes' parent company, Intertec Publishing, has announced that C&D Debris Recycling will feature seven issues in 1997, beginning in January.

Formerly a quarterly supplement to Rock Products, the magazine will launch with an initial circulation of 10,000, and is expected to grow to 12,000 by 1999 and to 15,000 by 2001.

Because this industry is still in its infancy, there are no governmental statistics on its size. However, C&D estimates that construction and demolition materials comprise approximately 17 to 28 percent of the nation's waste stream. Currently, only 20 percent of this type of waste is recycled in America, which is low, compared to some European countries, which reportedly recycle about 75 percent of building debris.

C&D will provide the information on technology and product advances, market data and regulatory issues, as well as case histories on recyclers, updates on new projects and products and a Buyers' Guide, according to the magazine's editor, William Turley.
