  • O'Brian Manufacturing, Wilson, N.C., has announced its corporate name change to O'Brian Tarping Systems. The company manufactures automated tarping systems as well as hand tarps.

  • Hartford, Conn., has contracted with Shelton, Conn.-based Leggette, Brashears & Graham to provide operation and maintenance services for a groundwater flow control system at the Hartford Landfill.

  • Paso Robles Waste Disposal, Paso Robles, Calif., has selected Routeware Inc., Beaverton, Ore., to install a wireless tracking system on its entire fleet, which will track route activity and costs and provide data on pick-ups.

  • Triad Engineering, West Allis, Wisc., marks its 25th anniversary with a new name and location. Now known as Symbiont, the company's ownership, staff and services will remain the same.

  • The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has announced that it will be offering solid waste reduction, recycling and household hazardous waste grants to local governments in the state. To apply, visit www.deq.state.or.us. The deadline for materials is Sept. 8.

  • The Rite Aid drugstore chain and the Atlanta-based Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corp. have reached an agreement to place battery drop-off boxes in the retailer's California stores.

  • The Arlington County, Va., Department of Environmental Services Solid Waste Bureau has partnered with the Washington-based Curbside Value Partnership to launch a promotional campaign aimed at increasing participation in the county's curbside recycling program.

  • The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, has released a model for a state idling law. The model does not intend to prevent sanitation trucks from idling while crews collect trash.
