Lynnfield, Mass.-based GreenMan Technologies Inc. has signed a letter of intent to acquire all of the Iowa-based tire collection and processing operations of Salt Lake City-based Utah Tire Recyclers Inc. (UT). GreenMan will manage the operations under the name GreenMan Technologies of Iowa Inc.

Houston-based GSE Lining Technology Inc. has acquired Serrot International Inc., Henderson, Nev., from Houston-based Waste Management Inc.

RecycleNet Corp., Guelph, Ontario, Canada, has acquired Global Recycling Network (GRN), also based in Guelph.

Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Christie Whitman has signed a memorandum of understanding with Habitat for Humanity International, Americus, Ga., to build energy-efficient housing on former brownfields properties throughout the country.

Houston-based Waste Management Inc.'s board of directors unanimously voted to fire Chicago-based Arthur Andersen LLP and hire London-based Ernst & Young LLP as its new auditor. Andersen has been fighting to clear its name in the Houston-based Enron Corp. collapse but recently was indicted on a charge of obstruction of justice for shredding Enron documents.

Eaton Corp., Kalamazoo, Mich., has announced that Maverick Transportation, Little Rock, Ark., has installed Eaton VORAD EVT-300 collision warning systems in its entire fleet of more than 750 tractors.

San Francisco-based Norcal Waste Systems Inc. has opened a liquefied natural gas (LNG) station to convert its 38 long-haul vehicles with the low-pollution alternative fuel. The conversion allows for a 50 percent reduction in nitrous oxide emissions and an 80 percent reduction in particulate matter.

New York-based NEC Corp. and its 26 domestic manufacturing subsidiaries have achieved zero-emissions status for general and industrial waste through waste matter and recycling activities.

Terex Corp., Westport, Conn., has reported 2001 net income of $12.8 million, compared with 2000 net income of $95.1 million. The company also has reported net sales of $1,812.5 million for 2001, compared with net sales of $2,068.7 million for 2001.

Ag-Bag International Ltd., Warrenton, Ore., has reported 2001 net loss of $164,150, compared with 2000 net income of $521,814. The company also has reported net sales of $28.71 million, compared with net sales of $31.45 million for 2001.

Waste Management Inc., Houston, has reported net income for the fourth quarter of 2001 ended Dec. 31, 2001, of $158 million, compared with $39 million for the same quarter of 2001. Revenues were $2.79 billion, compared with revenues of $2.88 billion for the same quarter of 2001. For the 2001 year, net income was $503 million, compared with a net loss of $97 million for 2000. Revenues were $11.32 billion, compared with revenues of $12.49 billion for 2000.

Rotonics Manufacturing Inc. (RMI), Gardena, Calif., has reported earnings of $394,100 on net sales of $9.3 million for the Q3 ended March 31, 2002, compared with earnings of $260,800 on net sales of $9.9 million for the same quarter last year.

DynaMotive Energy Systems Corp., Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, has completed the sale of its DynaPower metal-cleaning subsidiary to former employees. The company will focus on the bioenergy field and the development of BioOil-related technology and systems.
