The Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC), Washington, has joined with Americana Program Underwriters Inc. (APU), Camp Hill, Pa., to create an insurance program for WASTEC members. The coverages provided are general liability, including products /completed operations, and garagekeeper's legal liability. Other coverages are available, as well as excess limits. WasteExpo has received a Global Trades Award. The award recognizes the country's top trade shows and the leaders in the industries the shows serve. Up to 10 WasteExpo exhibitors have been selected as the top companies in their field. Neither WasteExpo show management nor the show's two sponsors — Waste Age and the Environmental Industry Associations — selected the winners. The winners will be announced at the WasteExpo on May 2 in Las Vegas.

Heil Environmental, Chattanooga, Tenn., has added a large order of Autocar Xpeditor trucks to its Ready Truck program, which is designed to handle urgent equipment needs. In other Heil news, the company has announced that its operate-at-idle system is now available on most of its refuse vehicles.

The Environmental Business Journal has awarded Easley, S.C.-based RJM Waste Equipment Co. a bronze medal in its 2004 business achievement awards.

Jerry Warmkessel, sales engineer for Mack Trucks, Lehigh Valley, Pa., has been awarded the Silver Spark Plug Award by the Technology and Maintenance Council of the Alexandria, Va.-based American Trucking Associations. The award honors outstanding service to the council through participation.

Wastequip, Beachwood, Ohio, has opened a Los Angeles production facility that will serve Southern California.

Western Star Trucks has announced that it is relocating its headquarters to Redford, Mich., which is in the greater Detroit area. The company's headquarters were previously located in Willoughby, Ohio.
