Announcements

  • Waste Management, Houston, has announced that the name of its In Plant Services operations is Waste Management Upstream. The operations will provide upstream process improvements for major generators and industrial customers.

  • Farmington Hills, Mich.-based National Truck Equipment Association has published its Spring/Summer 2005 Work Truck Industry Resources catalog. Included are buyer's guides and directories, news publications, technical information and vehicle certification, and shop safety resources. To request a copy, call (800) 441-NTEA.

  • The Kenworth Truck Co., Kirkland, Wash., is celebrating its Chillicothe, Ohio, manufacturing plant's 250,000th truck. The truck is a 2006 model Kenworth T600.

  • Heil Environmental, Chattanooga, Tenn., has opened a new customer care facility at its Fort Payne, Ala. Campus. Call Central allows customers to place one call to the company for all customer service needs.

  • The Doylestown, Pa.-based National Association of Demolition Contractors is now the National Demolition Association and has unveiled a new logo. The association announced the name change at its annual convention in Las Vegas.



Awards

  • Ottumwa, Iowa-based Al-jon Inc. has won the Gold Award at the Advertising Federation's 9th District conference. The award recognizes the company's interactive sales CD created in conjunction with advertising agency Henry Russell Bruce.

  • Kathy Whitman, sales manager for Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems, Easton, Md., has received the annual Special Governor's Award from the National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA). The award is presented to association members who have performed a noteworthy service to NSWMA and the waste industry.

  • Leach Co., Oshkosh, Wis., has launched a new Web site, www.leachcompany.com. The site includes online order tracking, order history and technical support.

  • The Florida Organics Recycling Center for Excellence (FORCE) has updated its Web site, www.floridaforce.org.

Stephen Ursery is the editor of Waste Age magazine. During his time as editor, Waste Age has won more than 20 national and regional awards. He has worked for Penton Media since August 1999. Before joining Waste Age as the magazine's managing editor, he was an associate editor for American City & County and for National Real Estate Investor.

Prior to joining Penton, Stephen worked as a reporter for The Marietta Daily Journal and The Fulton County Daily Report, both of which are located in metro Atlanta.

Stephen earned a BA in History from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
