East Hartford, Conn.-based Oakleaf Waste Management, a waste services broker, has acquired Tampa, Fla.-based Valet Waste Inc., which provides waste collection services for apartment communities.

Des Moines, Iowa-based Mid America Recycling Co. has purchased Rock-Tenn Converting Co.'s paper recovery facility in Dallas. The site will operate under the name Vista Fibers.

C.N. Wood, Woburn, Mass., has become a Heil Environmental distributor. C.N. Wood will cover Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire for Heil.

Community Waste Disposal, Dallas, has received the 2005 Corporate Business of the Year Award from the Frisco, Texas, Chamber of Commerce. The award is based on the community involvement of both a firm's executives and its employees.

Manchester, N.H., has contracted with Corcoran Environmental Services, Kennebunk, Maine, and Pinard Waste Systems, Manchester, N.H., to provide recycling and yard waste services. The 10-year agreement can be extended up to eight times. Each contract renewal would last five years.

Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems, Easton, Md., has appointed Jim Coffren as operations manager. Coffren was previously with Navistar International.

The Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC), Atlanta, has reached an agreement to place rechargeable battery collection boxes in Kragen Auto Part stores.
