  • Chattanooga, Tenn.-based SI Corp. has sold its woven carpet backing business sector to Shaw Industries to focus on its construction materials business, which includes the waste industry.

  • Onyx Environmental Services has acquired the hazardous waste services division of PWN Environmental Services in San Diego.

  • The Kriete Group of Milwaukee, a Mack Trucks distributor organization, has opened two facilities near Green Bay, Wis., and Racine, Wis.

  • Hallco Manufacturing Co., Tillamook, Ore., has launched a new Web site, www.hallcomfg.com. The site includes a dealer directory map, product information and new sales contacts.

  • Chattanooga-based Heil Environmental has launched a new Web site, www.heilreadytrucks.com, for its Ready Truck program. The site is intended to serve as a resource for haulers looking for new or used collection vehicles that are in stock and ready for purchase.

Stephen Ursery is the editor of Waste Age magazine. During his time as editor, Waste Age has won more than 20 national and regional awards. He has worked for Penton Media since August 1999. Before joining Waste Age as the magazine's managing editor, he was an associate editor for American City & County and for National Real Estate Investor.

Prior to joining Penton, Stephen worked as a reporter for The Marietta Daily Journal and The Fulton County Daily Report, both of which are located in metro Atlanta.

Stephen earned a BA in History from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
