  • Waste Industries USA, Raliegh, N.C., acquired American Disposal Services, Hendersonville, Tenn.

  • Phoenix-based Allied Waste plans to open a new regional customer service center in northwest Indiana that is expected to create more than 350 jobs by 2014. The plans for the center, which will be located in Morocco, Ind., follow the company's decision to consolidate its regional customer support centers.

  • Garner, Iowa-based Stellar Industries acquired K-PAC Equipment, a division of Krause Corp.

  • Seven Covanta Energy, Itasca, N.J., waste-to-energy facilities joined the National Performance Track program of the U.S. EPA.
