Van Weelden Resigns As Allied Waste President; Firm Also Announces Third-Quarter Results
Scottsdale, Ariz. — Thomas H. Van Weelden has resigned, effective immediately, as president and board member of Allied Waste Industries Inc., Scottsdale, Ariz. In a press release, the company said he left "to pursue other interests."
Less than a month ago, Weelden was replaced as chairman and CEO of the company by Charles H. Cotros. Cotros will also now serve as president.
The company also has announced its third-quarter financial results. Allied Waste posted a net income of $44.1 million on revenues of $1.38 billion during third-quarter 2004. During the same period in 2003, the company posted a net income of $38.4 million on revenues of $1.36 billion.
During the first nine months of 2004, Allied Waste posted a net income of $31.9 million on revenues of $4.01 billion. During the same period in 2003, the company posted a net income of $131.5 million on revenues of $3.94 billion.
