WEEE Man, Big Problem

He may be called weee, but england's modern man illustrates a not so small problem. Created by the Royal Society of Arts, WEEE man is a seven-meter-tall humanoid sculpture designed to visually show how much electronic waste one person generates in a lifetime. The sculpture was made from three tons of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), including seven vacuum cleaners, 10 microwaves, nine washing machines, eight heaters and six toasters. The WEEE man was on display for most of May outside London City Hall before touring other parts of the country. RSA hopes that the towering sculpture will prompt consumers to think more about recycling — or at least scare them into doing it, perhaps.
