WM Elects New CEO

Houston-based Waste Management Inc. (WM) has announced that A. Maurice Myers has retired from the company and David Steiner will replace Myers as CEO. Prior to his promotion, Steiner served as WM's executive vice president and CFO. He also has previously served as senior vice president and general counsel for WM.

Myers will remain as WM's chairman until November 2004. Then, current WM board member John (Jack) Pope will serve as non-executive chairman.

“The board voted unanimously to put this team in place and is very confident and excited about Waste Management's future under [this] leadership,” Myers says.

Other company promotions include: Lawrence O'Donnell III, president and COO; Robert Simpson, CFO; Lynn Caddell, senior vice president and chief information officer; Greg Robertson, vice president and chief accounting officer.
