Jupiter, Fla., Weighs Hauler Options

The Town of Jupiter, Fla., may soon part ways with Waste Management Inc. Earlier this week, town officials voted 3-1 to end a 30-year contract with the hauler.

Jupiter is currently considering other offers from Advanced Disposal Services Solid Waste Southeast Inc. and Waste Pro of Florida. A decision will be made at the town’s next meeting on November 15.

Town officials voted tentatively Tuesday 3-1 to end a 30-year contract with Waste Management Inc. for trash collection and hire West Palm Beach-based Advanced Disposal Services Solid Waste Southeast Inc.

The monthly bill for residents for Advanced Disposal would be $8.45 for collection of yard waste, trash and recycling.

Houston-based Waste Management proposes a monthly fee of $12.45.
