Canada’s British Columbia Launches CleanBC Organics Infrastructure and Collection Program

Canada’s British Columbia has launched the CleanBC Organics Infrastructure and Collection Program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The program will support local communities by diverting organic waste from material that is being sent to landfills. The Province will invest up to $25.7 million in new, or expanded, organic waste processing infrastructure and residential organic waste collection programs.

Indigenous governing bodies, regional districts and municipalities will have the opportunity to apply for funding through two of the projects. The Organic Processing Infrastructure funding will support the building of new, or the expansion of existing, organic waste processing infrastructure that will result in increased processing capacity, while the Residential Curbside Collection funding will support eligible applicants in the development of new, or the expansion of existing, residential organic waste curbside collection programs that result in an increased amount of organic waste diverted from landfills.
