Columbus, Ohio, Faces Landfill Costs

Columbus will pay about $17.3 million to dump its trash at the landfill owned by the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, an increase of about $500,000 compared to last year. 

The City Council is expected to approve that contract today at its 5 p.m. meeting at City Hall along with a $4.6 million pact with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office to house inmates at the county jails this year. That’s an increase of about $250,000 compared to last year.
