Meridian Waste Announces Third Acquisition in Knoxville, Tenn.
The company first purchased Knoxville Landfills, LLC, followed by the purchase of WCA-Tennessee’s hauling assets.
Meridian Waste, an integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company, announced it has acquired the hauling, container and contract assets of Designated Disposal, LLC in Knoxville, Tenn. This is Meridian Waste’s third acquisition since entering the Knoxville marketplace within a year.
The company first purchased Knoxville Landfills, LLC, two active construction and demolition landfills located within the Knoxville city limits, in November 2018, followed five months later (April 2019) with the purchase of WCA-Tennessee’s hauling assets. Designated Disposal is the 12th acquisition since the company transitioned to private stock under the ownership of Warren Equity Partners in April 2018.
“Tuck-in acquisitions such as Designated Disposal are a vital aspect of Meridian Waste’s growth strategy,” said Dave Lavender, Meridian Waste’s chief operating officer, in a statement. “Knoxville has proven to be a stellar marketplace for the company in a relatively short timeframe. The combination of having integrated hauling and disposal assets in one of the 10 fastest-growing U.S. cities and having dynamic local management and employees is the recipe for a winning team. Assimilating the hauling assets of our newest acquisition into our core business will expand our service area as we offer our solid waste collection services into new geographic communities of the greater Knoxville marketplace.”
The company will transfer the Designated Disposal assets to its current hauling location at 6236 Rutledge Pike in Knoxville.
