Recycling and Waste Solutions (RWS), a provider of commodity recycling and waste services to the nation’s largest supply chains, announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire Sustainable Solutions Group (SSG), a company that provides and manages recycling, waste and sustainability programs for regional and national companies throughout North America. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2009, SSG is a provider of commercial waste reduction and recycling solutions nationwide. As a fast-growing company, SSG develops waste reduction programs for a large portfolio of commercial clients that include some of the nation’s largest brands.

“SSG has an understanding and dedication to sustainability and the environmental space. This fits well with RWS’ ongoing commitment to provide innovative managed solutions for recycling and waste services that increase efficiency while reducing costs for our client companies,” said Anthony DiIenno, president and CEO of RWS, in a statement. “Having the ability to provide SSG’s large portfolio of retail centers, enclosed malls, office buildings, hotels and mixed-use properties with expanded services supports RWS’ plans for future growth into multifamily and comprehensive facility services. We are excited that the acquisition of SSG will add to our scope of capabilities and further support our company’s goal to continue to lead the way in this ever-evolving market.”

Deborah Lenderman, who became a partner with SSG in 2012, will stay on as executive vice president following the closing of the transaction, along with the executive team and employees. All current customers, contracts and service levels will remain unchanged.

“SSG is elated with the opportunity to offer expanded recycling solutions and national facility services to our customers. We have been searching for an edge in the recycling industry to create more value for our customers. Now we have it,” said Lenderman in a statement.

RWS is a portfolio company of Atar Capital, which acquired the business in September 2017. This is Atar’s third acquisition in six months.
