Allied Waste reports first-quarter growth

In first-quarter results released today, Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Allied Waste reported net income of $41 million, or 8 cents per share, a 64 percent increase over the $25 million, or 5 cents per share, it earned during the same period a year ago. During the same period, revenue rose from $1.34 billion to $1.44 billion, a 7.3 percent increase.

In a statement, John Zillmer, Allied Waste’s chairman and chief executive officer, said his company’s first-quarter performance “demonstrated the continued success of our pricing initiatives, steady volume growth and progress in executing operations effectiveness programs.”
