Milwaukee has surpassed an e-waste recycling milestone by recycling more than 1 million pounds of unwanted electronics since 2006. The city’s e-waste recycling efforts include Self-Help collection centers to collect computer equipment and a one-day collection event in April for televisions.

“Recycling discarded electronics not only diverts hazardous materials from landfills, but it also allows valuable commodities to be recovered and recycled into new products,” said Rick Meyers, recycling manager for the Milwaukee Department of Public Works, in a press release.
