Sprint Nextel, The Wireless Alliance and Keep America Beautiful are teaming up during the 2007 Great American Cleanup in an effort to recycle old wireless phones. Starting March 1, the “Wipe Out Wireless Waste” campaign will include various events and the distribution of postage-paid mailing envelopes to encourage community members to recycle their old phones. Postage-paid mailing are also available online at www.thewirelessalliance.com.

“There are plenty of ways to help keep our nation clean and green, and we’re pleased to add wireless recycling to the list,” said G. Raymond Empson, president of Keep America Beautiful in a press release.

In addition to establishing grants and rewarding top-donating affiliates, Sprint Nextel will also donate all of the program’s proceeds to further efforts through Keep America Beautiful.
