Airspace Saver Daily Cover, Prairieville, La., offers tarps that are designed to last between 12 and 24 months, according to the company. The high-density polyethylene material is sewn to custom measurements with high-tensile-strength web straps. Steel D-rings are sewn onto straps every 12 feet and on corners, the company says.

Topcoat, manufactured by Wellsville, Kan.-based Central Fiber Corp., is made according to federal regulations, the company says. The product is mixed and applied with standard hydroseeding equipment as a slurry to save 6 inches of soil, according to the company.

Covertech, Ontario, Canada, offers the C-440 with fabric and strapping system. The material is a woven fabric made of high-density polyethylene tapes and coated on both sides with low-density polyethylene. Reinforced web straps support the material on both sides, every 12 inches, with straps extending over the hem with a D-ring. The design allows for installation over the refuse using existing equipment or manpower, the company says. Life expectancy is between 10 and 14 months, according to the company.

EPI Environmental Products

EPI Environmental Products, Conroe, Texas, offers the Enviro Cover System, a non-removable geosynthetic ADC system comprised of the Enviro Cover and Enviro Cover Deployer. The cover comes in a variety of specifications and gauges, and can be deployed for days to weeks for daily, progressive daily and intermediate cover applications. A degradable polyethylene film, the cover degrades at controllable rates under thermal, mechanical stress and photo conditions, and produces non-toxic water-insoluble byproducts, the company says. The deployer applies the cover to the landfills.

FINN CORP., Fairfield, Ohio, manufactures the FINN Waste Cover, an ADC manufactured from recycled paper and wood. When mixed with water in a FINN landfill spray application machine, the black spray slurry is applied to form a cement-like crust. The cover is intended to help alleviate odors and break down garbage, the company says. Mercer Motor Works, Mercer, Maine, offers the TDS-30 tarping system for ADCs that deploys and retrieves multiple tarps of various geotextile materials in minutes, according to the company. TDS-30 can be moved and operated by landfill equipment, including D4 to D8 class bulldozers, Cat 826 size compactors and excavators. A remote control unit for controlling from inside the cab is standard.

The pneumatic units used for application are available as towable units and self-propelled machines.

The water-resistant, ultraviolet-stable covers feature webbing around the perimeter and seams, reinforced corners, and heavy-duty straps and D-rings, the company says. The standard stock size is 50 feet by 50 feet. Custom sizes are available.
