Bandag, Muscatine, Iowa, manufactures the BDM and BRM retread truck tires designed for various waste industry applications. The tread designs offer 20 percent longer wear, the company says. The driver position of the BDM tire is manufactured for on- and off-road conditions where traction is needed. The BRM is designed for all positions and for pick-up and delivery services in the waste industry, the company says. The BRM's tread design also is manufactured for on- and off-road applications.

The technology uses a gel-like, solvent-free compound built into the inner liner of the tire, adding about 5 lbs. to 7 lbs. per tire. The technology is effective from -40 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the company. The tire can remain in service until it is retreaded, the company adds.
