Report: Feds Investigating More Than 60 Hauling Firms

More than 60 waste companies are under investigation by the FBI and the IRS for organized crime connections, according to The Associated Press (AP). “A law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity because records in the case are sealed, said investigators are looking for evidence of intimidation, price-fixing and conspiracy in the industry,” the AP reports. “Investigators also want to know whether certain companies paid more than others at municipal dumps.”
