Austin, Texas — Texas Disposal Systems Inc. (TDS) has received the 2002 National Award for Outstanding Market Development from the Washington, D.C.-based National Recycling Coalition (NRC).

TDS, through its operating company Texas Landfill Management LLC, identifies and processes source-separated organic waste streams away from landfills, and combines them with supplementary waste streams to create more than 50 organic products. These products then are marketed to retail and wholesale outlets in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. To date, Texas Landfill Management facilities have diverted 122,455 tons of compostable materials away from landfills, according to the company.

TDS also was honored earlier this year with the Governor’s Texas Environmental Excellence Award from the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission.
