Toronto nixes use of plastic bags for collecting recyclables

After conducting a pilot program testing the feasibility of city-provided clear plastic bags to aggregate recyclables for curbside collection, Toronto officials have tossed out the idea. According to 680News, city officials found they had no way to process the bags and that they were prone to ripping. Instead, the city is opting to distribute reusable blue plastic bins to residents at an estimated cost of $29 million.
