The California Action Registry has named Houston-based Waste Management a Climate Action Leader for gathering and reporting its greenhouse gas emissions to the registry.

“This recognition is a tribute to our staff who worked so hard to complete our submission,” said Duane Woods, senior vice president of Waste Management, in a press release. “Climate change is an important issue to us and in California, where we operate the largest natural gas truck fleet in the state. We are working with our vendors to further improve efficiencies.”

Waste Management was the first solid waste company to join the registry.
