Houston — Waste Management Inc. (WM), Houston, is planning to divest collection businesses and transfer stations, and is undertaking an organizational restructuring that will eliminate about 600 jobs, according to the company. The firm estimates that the job cuts will result in a third-quarter pre-tax restructuring charge of $20 to $30 million. However, the job cuts will mean pre-tax cost savings of about $30 million this year and $70 million annually beginning next year, according to WM.
