Austin – WASTECON is still set to take place Sept. 27 to Sept. 29 in Austin, Texas, but the show may have to find another venue in the city. According to John Skinner, executive director and CEO for the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), there are several thousand evacuees from Hurricane Katrina being housed in three of the convention center’s halls. However, there are plans to relocate the evacuees to more permanent housing, and the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau is looking at alternate venues within the city for WASTECON.

To date, no events associated with the trade show have been cancelled. For updates, visit www.SWANA.org.
