Austin – The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), Silver Spring, Md., announced yesterday that it will not relocate WASTECON, which is scheduled for Sept. 27-29 in Austin, Texas. According to SWANA Executive Director and CEO John Skinner, there are about 1,000 remaining Hurricane Katrina evacuees in the Austin Convention Center, and more relocations are planned for the next week. The convention center has informed SWANA that there will be enough space to where exhibitors will not have to reduce booth space. However, some of the training sessions will be relocated to a nearby hotel.
