From catching a ride on a garbage truck in Los Alamos, N.M., to Boulder, Colo., citing residents for violating the city’s bear trash law, bears have made their way into news headlines over the past couple of weeks.

The bear coverage streak continues this week as a Lake Tahoe bear’s smart thinking proves that difficult-to-open containers won’t necessarily keep bears from making their way into the bins.

A smart Lake Tahoe bear / garbage connoisseur was captured on video unscrewing a sealed trash can.

This bear clearly has a genius IQ (for bears) and proves that difficult-to-open containers are no match for its bear brain. Unfortunately, the bear's superior intellect is cancelled out by its animal desire to eat dirty paper towels. Use a fork, bear!

Soon, the bears will figure out doors and all hope for humanity will be lost.
