Kentucky Waste-by-Rail Ceases Operation
A waste-by-rail train operation in Kentucky ended operations on Tuesday as part of an agreed summary judgment.
The Daily Independent has the details:
As part of an agreed summary judgment, trains hauling trash in droves from the northeastern region of the United States and other sites out of state will cease on Tuesday, according to Big Run Landfill parent company EnviroSolutions Inc.
In fact, the last train tentatively scheduled to arrive in the rail yard at Big Run Landfill around 5 or 6 p.m. will be the last locomotive to unload garbage at the landfill, period.
Overloaded trains hauling millions of tons of garbage into the landfill were determined as one of the root causes to the stench hundreds of Boyd County residents have complained about for nearly two years.
